Financial Operations Manager
Our client, an eCommerce and wholesale distribution company is looking for a Financial Operations Manager. The Financial Operations Manager is responsible for leading the finance team’s operations, designing and implementing efficient workflows, and ensuring strong processes, controls, and accountability across the department. This role is not focused on daily transactional finance work, but instead on managing people, systems, and execution. The ideal candidate combines strong leadership presence with emotional intelligence, credibility, and a collaborative management style. Responsibilities: Team Leadership and Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of finance professionals Set clear expectations, responsibilities, and performance standards Conduct regular check-ins, performance reviews, and coaching sessions Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement Operations, Workflow, and Process Management: Design, document, and implement scalable finance workflows and processes Identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks, and drive process improvements Standardize procedures across the department to ensure consistency and compliance Partner with leadership to align finance operations with organizational goals Oversight and Coordination: Oversee timelines, priorities, and workload distribution across the team Ensure operational readiness for audits, reporting cycles, and strategic initiatives Act as the primary liaison between finance and other departments regarding operational matters Monitor adherence to internal controls and policies Strategic Support: Provide high-level operational insights to senior leadership Support system implementations, upgrades, and automation initiatives Assist in change management related to new processes or structures What This Role Does Not Focus On: Daily bookkeeping or transactional processing Hands-on preparation of routine financial entries or reconciliations Tactical data entry or repetitive finance tasks Qualifications: Experience: 8+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or financial operations 5+ years in a management or team leadership role Strong background in process design, workflow optimization, and operational oversight Skills and Attributes: Strong leadership presence, confident and decisive, while remaining approachable Proven ability to balance firmness with empathy Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Highly organized, process-driven, and detail-oriented Comfortable managing experienced professionals and addressing performance issues when needed Ability to influence without micromanaging Personal Characteristics: Strong character with integrity and professionalism Emotionally intelligent and calm under pressure Respected by peers and team members Proactive, solutions-oriented, and adaptable Location: Edison NJ Salary: $150K
