Head of Product Strategy & Development Location: Newark, NJ, Onsite-Full Time Salary: $225,000 Description / Position Overview The company is looking for a senior product leader to drive product strategy, category growth, and product development across a portfolio of home and interior products. This role exists because product decisions have a direct impact on growth, market position, dealer adoption, and long-term category performance. The business needs a leader who can identify opportunities before competitors, translate market trends into winning products, and build a roadmap that aligns customer demand with operational execution. This is not a project management role. The execution team already exists. This role owns the strategic side of product development — identifying opportunities, defining category direction, building product roadmaps, shaping go-to-market strategy, and ensuring products are positioned to win before they are handed off for execution. The ideal candidate has experience leading product strategy and commercialization within cabinetry, kitchen & bath, tile, flooring, furniture, home furnishings, building products, surfaces, or adjacent industries. What You’ll Own • Own category strategy and long-term product direction across assigned product lines • Identify market opportunities, emerging trends, competitive threats, and portfolio gaps • Build and maintain product roadmaps aligned with customer demand and business objectives • Develop business cases and commercialization plans for new product initiatives • Define product positioning, pricing strategy, assortment strategy, and launch priorities • Drive product lifecycle decisions from concept through market adoption • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Sourcing, Manufacturing, and Operations to ensure alignment • Evaluate product performance and adjust strategy based on market response and business results • Influence portfolio decisions that impact growth, profitability, and competitive positioning • Translate customer insights into actionable product development priorities Success Metrics Success in this role looks like: • Successful launch of new products that achieve adoption and revenue targets • Increased category growth and market share • Improved product portfolio performance • Strong roadmap execution and launch readiness • Faster identification of product opportunities and market trends • Improved alignment between Product, Sales, Marketing, and Operations • Growth in dealer adoption and customer demand • Improved profitability and lifecycle performance across product categories Requirements • Proven experience leading product strategy, product development, category management, or product commercialization • Experience owning physical products from concept through launch • Strong market research and competitive analysis capability • Experience building product roadmaps and managing product portfolios • Experience partnering with commercial and operational teams • Strong understanding of product positioning, assortment planning, and go-to-market strategy • Ability to balance customer demand, market trends, and operational realities • Experience within cabinetry, kitchen & bath, tile, flooring, surfaces, furniture, home furnishings, building products, millwork, or adjacent industries preferred • Experience working with globally sourced or manufacturing-driven product environments preferred • Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills Must-Haves • Physical product development experience • Product strategy ownership experience • Category or portfolio management experience • Product launch and commercialization experience • Market analysis and competitive research capability • Cross-functional leadership experience • Experience within home products, interiors, building products, or adjacent categories • Strategic thinking combined with hands-on execution Final Invitation to Apply If you’ve successfully built, launched, and grown physical product categories while influencing product strategy, commercialization, and long-term portfolio performance, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a growing organization and help shape the future direction of its products.
