International Logistics & Customs Operations Manager Freight Forwarding | Global Imports & Exports Compensation: $125,000+ (DOE) with strong growth upside Location: Brooklyn NY The Opportunity We’re looking for a hands-on international logistics leader who knows freight forwarding inside and out — someone who has actually run shipments, dealt with brokers, fixed problems at ports, and understands customs compliance because they’ve lived it. This is not a paper-pushing role. You’ll own international freight operations end to end and be the point person for keeping shipments moving and compliant. What You’ll Be Doing International Freight Operations Manage global freight forwarding operations across air, ocean, and ground Coordinate directly with overseas agents, carriers, customs brokers, and vendors Resolve real-world issues: port delays, customs holds, documentation errors, cargo claims Optimize routing, carrier selection, and landed costs without sacrificing reliability Serve as the internal expert on international shipping execution Customs & Trade Compliance Ensure imports and exports meet all U.S. Customs (CBP) and international regulations Oversee HTS classification, country of origin, valuation, and duty considerations Maintain clean records and zero-surprise audits Act as the go-to compliance authority while keeping operations moving efficiently Who This Role Is For A freight forwarder or logistics manager who has run international shipments hands-on Someone who understands customs because they’ve dealt with it, not just studied it Comfortable owning vendors, brokers, and carriers independently Detail-oriented but practical — you know when to dig in and when to move fast Thrives in a high-responsibility, problem-solving environment Must-Have Experience Proven freight forwarding experience managing international shipments end to end Strong working knowledge of: U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) Import/export compliance HTS classification and trade documentation Experience working directly with customs brokers and overseas agents Ability to operate independently with minimal oversight
