Controller – Merchant Cash Advance (MCA) Location: Jersey City, NJ (On-site) Salary: $130k+ Role Overview We are seeking a hands-on Controller to oversee the full financial operations of a fast-paced Merchant Cash Advance (MCA) business. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-volume, cash-flow–driven environments and is extremely advanced in Excel. The Controller will fully own the books, banking activity, and financial reporting while working closely with ownership. Key Responsibilities Own and manage the full accounting cycle including GL, AP, reconciliations, and month-end close Maintain accurate financial records for a high-volume MCA operation Manage daily cash activity, bank reconciliations, and multiple bank accounts Handle and maintain bank and funding partner relationships Prepare financial statements, cash flow reports, and internal management reporting Build and maintain advanced Excel models for tracking cash flow, performance, and reconciliations Oversee Accounts Payable, vendor payments, and expense controls Monitor cash positions and ensure accuracy across funding and repayment activity Work directly with ownership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy Support audits, compliance requirements, and external accountants Improve internal controls, processes, and reporting efficiency Required Experience & Skills Proven experience as a Controller or Senior Accountant, preferably in MCA, lending, fintech, or financial services Very advanced Excel skills are a MUST (complex formulas, pivot tables, lookups, large datasets; macros a plus) Strong understanding of cash-based businesses and high transaction volumes Experience independently running the books and owning financial operations Comfortable dealing directly with banks and financial institutions Highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
