The Associate HR Director is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of human resources operations for an all-female office. This role encompasses managing the full recruitment life cycle, coordinating onboarding and orientation programs for new hires, addressing employee relations and performance management issues, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, and maintaining accurate and confidential HR records. Additionally, the Associate HR Director supports employee engagement initiatives, training and development programs, and HR process improvements to foster a positive and high-performing work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead full-cycle recruitment across downstate locations, including sourcing, interviewing, and hiring
Partner with hiring managers to define roles, develop sourcing strategies, and guide hiring decisions
Oversee onboarding, orientation, and probationary progress for new hires
Serve as a trusted HR resource for employee relations, performance issues, and conflict resolution
Manage performance improvement plans, corrective actions, and internal investigations
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and internal policies
Conduct salary discussions, benchmarking, and support compensation and benefits inquiries
Review, update, and maintain HR policies, handbooks, and employee documentation
Manage offboarding processes, including terminations, exit interviews, and system access removal
Support employee engagement initiatives, internal communications, trainings, and HR projects in collaboration with leadership
Qualifications:
Minimum of 4-5 years of progressive HR experience.
Proven experience managing full-cycle recruitment and onboarding.
Strong background in employee relations and performance management.
Experience ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, preferably in New York.
Experience implementing HR policies, procedures, and process improvements.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to connect and build relationships at all levels.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and industry standards.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive employee information.
Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
Strong cultural understanding and ability to engage and collaborate with employees of all backgrounds.
Initiative and self-motivation to drive HR programs and process improvements independently.
