Controller Merchant Cash Advance (MCA) Compensation: $130,000 $150,000 based on experience Location: On-site Type: Full-time Role Overview: We are a growing Merchant Cash Advance company seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to own the full accounting and financial reporting function, including bank-facing borrowing base reporting and portfolio performance analytics . This role is designed for a strong technical accountant who operates comfortably in high-volume, transaction-driven environments and can independently manage accurate reporting, cash oversight, and lender-required deliverables. Prior MCA experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate who is willing to deeply learn the business. Core Responsibilities: Accounting & Financial Reporting Own all day-to-day accounting operations including GL, AP, AR, reconciliations, and month-end close Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Ensure integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of all financial reporting Cash Flow & Liquidity Management Manage daily cash positioning and liquidity Prepare short- and long-term cash flow forecasts Monitor funding capacity relative to portfolio performance and bank requirements Borrowing Base & Bank Reporting Prepare and maintain borrowing base reports in compliance with bank agreements Reconcile portfolio data to accounting records for lender reporting Support bank examinations, audits, and ongoing lender inquiries Ensure accurate tracking of eligible receivables, exclusions, and reserves Portfolio Performance, Risk & Analytics Produce portfolio aging reports , default analysis, and performance metrics Track charge-offs, recoveries, yields, and cash collections Identify trends in defaults, dilution, and repayment behavior Provide leadership with actionable insights on portfolio risk and performance Systems, Controls & Process Improvement Maintain and optimize QuickBooks and Sage accounting systems Build and improve advanced Excel-based models and reports Establish and enforce strong internal controls and accounting policies Continuously improve processes for scalability, accuracy, and efficiency Leadership & External Coordination Partner with senior leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners Required Qualifications: 3+ years of Controller experience with full ownership of accounting and reporting Strong experience producing borrowing base and lender-facing reports Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks and Sage Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, reporting automation) Strong accounting fundamentals and exceptional attention to detail High level of accountability, ownership, and reliability Willingness to work fully on-site Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in Merchant Cash Advance, alternative lending, fintech, or asset-based lending Experience with portfolio analytics, defaults, and credit performance reporting Benefits Package: Comprehensive health insurance coverage Vision and dental insurance plans Generous paid time off (PTO), including vacation, sick days, and holidays Real opportunity for professional growth and career advancement Important Note: This is a hands-on Controller role , not a passive oversight position.
