Electrical Test Lab Supervisor
Our client, a leading manufacturer of durable medical equipment, is seeking a motivated and experienced Electrical Test Lab Supervisor The Supervisor, Corporate Reliability Test Lab is responsible for leading and managing all product reliability and qualification testing activities. This role ensures products meet applicable regulatory, quality, and performance standards, while effectively utilizing personnel, equipment, and laboratory resources. The Supervisor partners closely with Engineering, Product Development, and Quality teams to support new product development and ongoing product changes, while fostering a safe, compliant, and high-performing laboratory environment. Essential Functions: Laboratory Operations and Test Management: Schedule, coordinate, and oversee all product testing activities using available personnel and test equipment to ensure compliance with applicable standards, including RESNA, ISO, IEC, UL, cGMP, and GDP. Review test requests, reports, and submitted samples for completeness and accuracy against defined requirements. Develop and implement product testing strategies to demonstrate product reliability and performance. Determine technician training levels required for specific tests and assign work accordingly. Assess laboratory capacity for internal and external testing and identify equipment, staffing, and resource needs. Product Development and Standards Support: Develop and maintain product testing protocols to support new product development and product modifications. Represent the Corporate Test Lab in new product development activities, including participation in design reviews and phase gate meetings. Actively support the development and maintenance of product design and testing standards, including RESNA, ISO, and UL. Provide timely and accurate testing updates to project stakeholders and management. Leadership and People Management: Provide clear direction and ongoing communication regarding departmental and company goals. Train, coach, and develop new and existing associates; identify required training and ensure completion for all direct reports. Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to support employee growth and development. Evaluate staffing needs and costs, and recruit, hire, develop, and promote individuals with the skills and competencies needed to achieve superior results. Foster a collaborative team environment that values diversity and leverages individual strengths. Compliance, Safety, and Quality: Ensure consistent compliance with all company policies, departmental procedures, and regulatory requirements. Maintain a safe working environment by complying with OSHA standards and ensuring accurate and up-to-date MSDS documentation. Support laboratory adherence to ISO standards, design control practices, cGMP, and quality system requirements. Budgeting and Continuous Improvement: Support development of the departmental budget by assessing equipment requirements, staffing needs, and testing capacity. Identify opportunities to improve laboratory efficiency, effectiveness, and testing processes. Exhibit flexibility, creativity, and a willingness to assume additional responsibilities as needed. Qualifications: Five to seven years of demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a team-oriented environment, preferably within a technical or laboratory setting. Associate’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent technical education preferred. ASQ technical certification preferred. Strong knowledge of electronic components, electromechanical systems, and general test equipment. Experience with statistical data analysis and interpretation. Ability to manage multiple priorities and provide clear direction in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to write test protocols and work instructions related to product testing requirements. Familiarity with ISO standards, including ISO 13485 and ISO 17025, design control practices, cGMP, and new product development processes. Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with international teams. Location: Elyria OH Salary: $90K - $100K
