Director of Operations
Our client, a growing children’s clothing manufacturer and distributor seeking an experienced Director of Operations to oversee and streamline all operational functions of the business. This role is responsible for building efficient, scalable processes across product design, overseas manufacturing, logistics, customer service, order fulfillment, and billing. The ideal candidate has a strong apparel background, operational leadership experience, and a hands-on approach to improving systems and execution. Responsibilities Oversee all day-to-day operations of the company, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and scalability Design, implement, and optimize operational workflows across departments Collaborate closely with ownership/executive leadership on growth strategy Oversee the product lifecycle from design concept through production Manage overseas manufacturing partners and factories Coordinate production timelines, costing, quality control, and compliance Ensure timely production, shipment, and delivery of goods Identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency without sacrificing quality Manage inventory planning, forecasting, and stock levels Oversee warehousing, order fulfillment, and shipping processes Coordinate freight, customs, and import/export requirements Ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and on time for wholesale and/or direct-to-consumer channels Oversee customer service operations, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction Establish processes for order management, returns, credits, and issue resolution Improve communication flow between sales, customer service, and operations Oversee billing and invoicing processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness Work closely with accounting/bookkeeping teams on reconciliations and reporting Ensure proper documentation for wholesale accounts and payments Improve operational visibility into margins, costs, and performance Lead, mentor, and manage operations, customer service, and fulfillment staff Hire, train, and develop team members as the company grows Foster a culture of accountability, efficiency, and collaboration Qualifications 7+ years of operations leadership experience, preferably in apparel or consumer goods Strong understanding of clothing manufacturing, especially overseas production Experience managing supply chain, logistics, and fulfillment operations Experience with wholesale and direct-to-consumer distribution models Familiarity with ERP, order management, and inventory systems Experience scaling operations in a growing company Proven ability to create and implement efficient operational systems Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally Location: Brooklyn NY Salary: $200K
