Director of Talent Acquisition
Our client, a home care agency, is looking to hire a Director of Talent Acquisition who will lead and own the full pre-employment lifecycle for all administrative hiring across the company. This role is responsible for building a high-performing recruiting function, ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and a best-in-class candidate and new-hire experience. This leader will partner closely with department heads, HR, operations, IT, payroll, and facilities to ensure that every hire is the right person in the right seat and that new employees feel supported and prepared from day one. Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Management Build, train, develop, and lead a high-performing Talent Acquisition team. Provide ongoing coaching, performance management, and accountability for all Talent Acquisition team members. Establish clear goals, KPIs, and expectations to drive recruiting excellence. Recruiting Strategy & Execution Own and manage the full pre-employment lifecycle, from sourcing and screening through background checks, offers, and day-one readiness. Design, implement, and continuously improve recruiting processes and supporting systems with a focus on consistency, efficiency, compliance, and candidate experience. Develop and maintain proactive talent pipelines for all administrative roles to ensure open requisitions never start from zero. Partner with department leaders to understand hiring needs, recommend staffing strategies, and set accurate and achievable hiring timelines. Coach hiring managers on interviewing best practices and effective candidate evaluation. Candidate Experience & Employer Brand Shape and oversee how the company presents itself to candidates through job postings, recruiter communications, LinkedIn presence, and employer branding platforms. Serve as the primary point of contact for candidates and new hires during the pre-employment and introductory period. Revamp and continuously improve the onboarding experience to ensure new hires feel prepared, supported, and confident from their first day. Compliance & Process Ownership Ensure all pre-employment activities are completed accurately and in full compliance with applicable federal, New York State, and New York City employment regulations. Own the front end of the HR lifecycle, including job descriptions, candidate communications, offer letters, new hire paperwork, and I-9 compliance. Utilize screening and assessment tools to evaluate candidate fit, cultural alignment, and role suitability with the goal of reducing early attrition. Operational & Cross-Functional Partnership Coordinate with IT, facilities, payroll, and hiring managers to ensure seamless onboarding and day-one readiness. Partner with payroll and HRIS teams to ensure timely and accurate setup of new hires. Support internal mobility by working with hiring managers to facilitate internal transfers when appropriate. Monitor early employment indicators and collaborate with managers and HR to proactively identify and address retention risks using the “right person, right seat” mindset. Vendor Management & Reporting Manage relationships with staffing agencies, job boards, and recruitment vendors, including budget ownership and performance evaluation. Track, analyze, and report on key recruiting metrics such as time-to-fill, source of hire, pipeline conversion rates, and early attrition trends. Requirements: Proven experience leading and scaling a Talent Acquisition or Recruiting function within a health care or related industry. Strong leadership skills with the ability to build, coach, and retain high-performing teams. Deep knowledge of full-cycle recruiting, compliance requirements, and best practices. Experience partnering with senior leaders and hiring managers across multiple departments. Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and follow-through. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. Experience managing recruiting tools, applicant tracking systems, and reporting metrics. Knowledge of New York State and New York City employment regulations strongly preferred.
