Counter Sales Representative
Position Summary The Counter Sales / Inside Sales Representative is responsible for servicing walk-in contractors and handling inbound sales calls. This role focuses on fast, accurate order processing, strong product knowledge, and building long-term customer relationships. You are the face of the company at the counter and a key driver of daily revenue. Key Responsibilities Customer Service & Sales - Assist walk-in customers (electricians, contractors, builders) at the counter - Answer inbound calls and respond to customer inquiries quickly - Recommend products, substitutions, and upsells based on job needs - Build and maintain strong relationships with repeat customers Order Processing - Create quotes, sales orders, and invoices accurately and efficiently - Check inventory availability and coordinate with warehouse team - Handle special orders and follow through to completion - Process returns, credits, and exchanges Product Knowledge - Maintain working knowledge of electrical products (wire, devices, lighting, gear, etc.) - Stay updated on pricing, promotions, and vendor programs - Assist customers with basic technical questions and solutions Operations Support - Coordinate with purchasing on stock shortages and customer demand - Keep counter area organized and professional - Assist with merchandising and stocking as needed - Support branch sales goals and daily targets Qualifications - Experience in electrical supply, construction, or wholesale distribution preferred - Strong communication and customer service skills - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with urgency - Basic computer skills (ERP systems like NetSuite a plus) - Strong attention to detail and accuracy - Ability to multitask and prioritize Preferred Traits - Street-smart and contractor-friendly - Quick thinker under pressure - Sales-minded (not just order-taking) - Reliable and team-oriented - Takes ownership of customer issues Position Summary The Counter Sales / Inside Sales Representative is responsible for servicing walk-in contractors and handling inbound sales calls.
