Controller – Commercial Lending Division Location: Brooklyn | Full-Time | On-Site Salary: 135K + DOE A fast-growing commercial lending firm in Brooklyn NY is expanding its finance team and creating a new Controller position to support its growing loan portfolio. This is a unique opportunity to step into a key leadership track role with direct mentorship from the current controller during a structured transition period. The position is designed for someone who wants to take ownership of financial operations within a lending environment and grow into a lead finance role overseeing the division. What You’ll Be Responsible For: Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including payables and receivables Maintain and evaluate financial performance of individual loans across the portfolio Track the full loan lifecycle including origination, funding, servicing, and disposition Analyze financial impact of loan sales including gains and losses Monitor credit performance and identify exposure to bad debt Ensure accuracy of all financial reporting and supporting documentation Collaborate closely with the CFO and broader finance team Support ongoing improvements to accounting workflows and internal processes What We’re Looking For: Must Have: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline 2–5+ years of accounting experience Strong Excel and financial analysis skills Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting Ability to manage multiple financial processes simultaneously High attention to detail and strong organizational ability Preferred: Background in commercial lending, real estate, or financial services Exposure to loan accounting or portfolio-based reporting Experience with accounting or financial systems (training provided on internal tools) What’s Offered: Competitive compensation package (based on experience) Health, dental, and vision coverage Paid time off Opportunity to grow into a senior finance leadership role
