Insurance Advocacy Specialist Location: Brooklyn, NY / Upstate NY / Lakewood, NJ Hours: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM Compensation: $40–$50/hour (based on experience) About the Role A growing medical referrals agency is seeking an experienced Insurance Advocacy Specialist to help patients navigate insurance challenges and advocate for approval of denied medical claims. This role requires someone who understands how insurance companies operate and can effectively communicate, negotiate, and find creative solutions to get claims approved. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who knows how to work with insurance companies, challenge denials, and identify opportunities within the system to achieve successful outcomes. Responsibilities Work directly with insurance companies to advocate for denied claims and push toward approval. Review claim denials and determine the best strategy to get coverage approved. Communicate with insurance representatives, adjusters, and internal teams. Build strong arguments and present cases in a way that convinces insurance companies to reconsider decisions. Find creative solutions and alternative approaches to overcome insurance obstacles. Identify opportunities, policies, and processes that can help get claims approved. Follow up consistently and professionally until resolution. Maintain detailed documentation of conversations, submissions, and outcomes. Requirements Strong office experience required. Experience working with insurance claims is a major plus. Exceptional communication and negotiation skills. Ability to confidently communicate with insurance companies and decision-makers. Creative thinker who can find solutions and think outside the box. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex situations. Someone who knows how to be persistent and push for results without being overly aggressive. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple cases at once. Ideal Candidate Profile We are looking for someone who can balance professionalism with persistence — someone who knows how to advocate, negotiate, and get results. The right candidate understands that success in this role comes from relationship-building, strategic communication, and finding the right path to approval. Experience in healthcare, medical referrals, insurance claims, prior authorizations, or insurance advocacy is highly preferred.
